]]>I am proud to announce that I have been honored with 7 "Nominee Awards" for my B&W images submitted to the 10th Annual Black and White Spider Awards. This is an annual international competition for Amateurs and Professionals with upwards of 8000 entries each year. The categories that my winning images can be seen in are (under Amateur): Architecture, Fine Art, Silhouette, Still life and Wildlife. Within each category, the images are in order by the photographer's first name. www.thespiderawards.com.
]]>Getting on a jet plane Wednesday, Sep 24 and heading for Chicago. I am taking my most recent body of work titled "One Exposure". Please see this folio on my home page under "Portfolios". Planning on meeting with several nationally known and recognized Photography Gallerists, Museum Curators, Photo Editors and Book Publishers. These 'Portfolio Reviews' are held at various times around this country and in Europe every year. Participants (yours truly) sign up for face-to-face reviews and receive candid advice about their work, as well as information on getting their photographs exhibited in galleries and museums and/or published. What a phenomenal way to make the process of showing one's art to gallerists so much easier than flying to separate cities around the country for individual meetings. This is going to be great fun!
The Jury represented the industry's biggest names and tastemakers including Christie's, Paris; Frieze Art Fair, London; DB Agency, Milan; Clair Gallerie, Munich; Edinburg Film Festival; Art Beatus Gallery, Hong Kong; Gup Magazine, Amsterdam; and Eyestorm, London.
Of the total of over 7000 images submitted from over 75 countries, my work received a high percentage of votes overall. Please go to my Awards Gallery to see the winning images.
On October 18, 2014, the above entitled Fine Art Photograph was awarded a Nomination in the Architecture Catagory. Overall, 8,508 entries were received from 73 countries!
The Jury represented the industry's biggest names and tastemakers including The Royal Photographic Society, FoMu Fotomuseum, Fratelli Alinari, Stockholm City Museum and the Torch Gallery in Amsterdam. The 9th Annual Spider Awards could not have wished for a better group of professionals to work with.
]]>The live online gala was attended by photography fans around the globe who logged on to see the climax of the industry's most important event for color photography.
7th Annual Jury members included captains of the industry from Contrasto, Rome; Kahmann Gallery, Amsterdam; Galerie Simon Blais, Montreal; Barbara Frigerio Contemporary Art, Milan; Clair Galerie, Munich; and Ingrid Deuss Gallery, Belgium who honored Color Masters with 274 coveted title awards in 18 categories.
"It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 7,416 entries we received this year," said Basil O'Brien, the awards Creative Director. Hello Karen,
I saw your Dark Architecture #4 photo in 'Black & White'...Congratulations on that honor.
I have also enjoyed touring through your website, especially being drawn to your thoughtfully composed and meaningful architectural images. Being an architect, and perceiving the world as one, I find your architectural images quite respectful of the design and spirit underlying the buildings, and can appreciate your own interpretations of their spaces, forms and textures.
I am an aspiring serious photographer (in my spare time) but hope to dedicate more time and effort to this fascinating fine art.
Glad I noticed your work.

Congratulations! Your entry in the BLACK & WHITE Single Image Contest 2014 has been selected for a Single Image Award, which means that one (or more) of your images will be published in the Special Issue #101 of BLACK & WHITE magazine scheduled to arrive on newsstands mid-December. You can be confident your work stood out in a way that deserved this special attention. Once again, congratulations!
This is so exciting, I have never been 'published' (in print) before. Will post which photo(s) won as soon as I know.

Dear Mrs Karen Colbert,
It is with great pleasure that the International Fine Art Photography Competition announces that you have received a Juror Award of Merit in the Still Life category for your image entitled "Tattered."
Congratulations!
While the image was not selected into the small group of finalists, it was chosen by one or more of our six jurors as one of their ten favorite images in this category. This is a true honor, as the jurors were very selective in their choices.
With your permission, we will be featuring this image in our online gallery. We will also, with your permission, feature the image on our Facebook page at some time in the future and will link to your photography website should you wish. At present, we have more than
4600 fans on our Facebook page, so you will receive well-deserved exposure.
Please let us know by responding to this email that you provide permission for the online gallery and/or the Facebook page. And please provide your photographic website should you wish the Facebook feature to link to you. You can also provide a brief statement about yourself (no more than 50 words) to accompany your image on Facebook.
You will receive a Juror Award of Merit certificate in October and are free to mention this award in your CV or in other media.
We congratulate you again on this honor.
With best wishes,
Meredith Mullins
