Welcome! In this area of my site, I post items of note and/or interest and sometimes just from just plain ecstatic exuberance - such as the announcement of winning a photographic Award or Honor. Hopefully over time there will be lots of entries here. I'm trying my little heart out!!!
I have posted most of the images from our summer cruise to the Baltic Sea Region ports of call. Please look for "Travel" in the "Portfolios" menu list on the main page. In reviewing my work, I want to go back and spend a week in each country that we visited. You will also find new work from the trip in the Abstract, Architecture and Still Life Collections.
As of the end of August, I did not make the final cut in the International Fine Art Photography Competition/Paris, France this year. Good impetus to do better next year. Have not heard from International Color awards/The Photography Masters Cup as of early September. They have pushed back their notifications until later this month or early October.
I have been notified twice in the last 30 days from two separate international photographic competitions that one or more of my images have been selected and placed into the semi-final round of the judging. If my image(s) make it into the final round, I could win an Award, which would be truly wonderful or even better, 3rd, 2nd, or 1st place or Best in Show in a category. Any of these special recognitions will be most thrilling as it tells me that I am growing in my ability and in my expression of my art. Stay posted - both competitions should be finalized by early August.
ANNOUNCEMENT SENT BY EMAIL:
Dear Mrs Karen Colbert,
It is with great pleasure that the International Fine Art Photography Competition announces that you have received a Juror Award of Merit in the Still Life category for your image entitled "Tattered."
Congratulations!
While the image was not selected into the small group of finalists, it was chosen by one or more of our six jurors as one of their ten favorite images in this category. This is a true honor, as the jurors were very selective in their choices.
With your permission, we will be featuring this image in our online gallery. We will also, with your permission, feature the image on our Facebook page at some time in the future and will link to your photography website should you wish. At present, we have more than
4600 fans on our Facebook page, so you will receive well-deserved exposure.
Please let us know by responding to this email that you provide permission for the online gallery and/or the Facebook page. And please provide your photographic website should you wish the Facebook feature to link to you. You can also provide a brief statement about yourself (no more than 50 words) to accompany your image on Facebook.
You will receive a Juror Award of Merit certificate in October and are free to mention this award in your CV or in other media.
We congratulate you again on this honor.
With best wishes,
Meredith Mullins
